Where to buy sake in London

Kailan D'Arcy Sushi London 1 Comment

Despite the huge popularity for sushi, finding somewhere to buy a good bottle of sake in London is not as easy.

Sake flavours can be as varied as the wines from Bordeaux, Marlborough and Tuscany and can cost anywhere from a few pounds to a few hundred. For this blog we’ve searched for places to buy sake in London that have a good range of flavours and prices.

Sparkling sake has become popular with Japan’s new generation of sake lovers and it’s also worth trying the citrus based Yuzu sake.

Traditionally brewed only in Japan, sake exports to Europe have grown over the past 10 years. But in 2015, Dojima Sake setup in Cambridge to start production on the UK’s first sake. It’s not due to be publicly available until 2017 but is something we’ll be keeping an eye on.

So now that you know a bit more about it, here are our top places where you can find the best sake in London.

Hedonism Wines

Hedonism Wines, 3-7 Davies St, London W1K 3LD
Tel: 020 7290 7870
hedonism.co.uk

Hedonism’s reviews speak for themselves, with happy customers citing their ‘great selection, knowledgeable and friendly staff’ and ‘expert assistance’.

Selfridges

Selfridges, 400 Oxford St, London W1A 1AB
Tel: 0800 123 400
selfridges.com

Selfridges have a huge selection of sake from £9.99 to £59.99. And only recently they hosted a Tastes of Japan installation, featuring a six seater sake bar in the wine hall. Let’s hope we see that again in the new year!
